Let's talk skin

Let's talk skin

Hello! Let's talk skin! I've had a few months of good skin (hallelujah!), so I thought we could chat about what I've been using! Having children sent my skin on a roller coaster ride, and it's just now starting to settle down. My acne scars have started to fade and now just look like freckles, which I love! It's been a long, frustrating process, but I've finally found what works best for me.

When it comes to skincare, I am such a minimalist. I don't believe in having a twenty-step routine because frankly, I don't have the time. Simplicity is key for me and my skin thrives when I use less products. As I've gotten older, I've started buying less makeup and have started paying more attention to my skin, and I think that it's appreciated that.

Two years ago I had the worst postpartum acne. I had small, bumps all over my face. I would pop them, and then they would scar. They would come back, and I would pop them again. It was a vicious cycle. I've had pretty good skin my whole life, but hormones will change a woman! The tides turned for me about a year ago and I'm so thankful!

Below are some of the products I use and love:

Pixi Glow Tonic: As you can see, I'm almost finished with this. I'm trying to save as much as I can until I can buy more when I get home! I feel like this product has been a game changer for me and my skin. I wanted to try an exfoliating toner because I heard all the wonderful things this can do for a dry-skinned gal like me. I love this product! I use this at night a couple of times a week. It gently exfoliates my skin without being to harsh. It's amazing! I'm using this as a gateway to a higher percentage of Glycolic acid. I'll keep you posted! Note: It's important to use a sunscreen when using this, as your skin may be more sensitive to the sun.

Clarins Santal Face Oil: I prefer a cream in the morning, and an oil at night. I love to try new oils for my nigh time routine, and I recently picked this up and love it. I love an oil on my face since my skin is so dry. I'm an oily mess when I go to bed and it's the best. My favorite part of my routine, for sure!

Origins VitaZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer: In the mornings, I am no fuss. I usually slap on some sunscreen if I'm going outside quickly, but if I want a little more, I use this! It has a little tint and is so moisturizing! It leaves my skin glowing with a little bit, and I mean little, coverage. I can't wear foundation anymore. It's too much! Instead, I wear this. It's enough for me, and on days when I have a crater on my face, I cover that baby up with concealer.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream: I talked about my dark circles when I posted about my daily makeup routine. They've been there my whole life and probably won't ever leave. I'm starting to not hate them so much. With that being said, I bought this eye cream for the extra moisture it'll hopefully give me, and maybe my dark circles will fade a little. I don't know if they're fading, but my eyes have enjoyed being massaged everyday. I put this under my concealer and have enjoyed it. Eye Cream is boring, but I like this one!

Kiehl's Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque: When I'm feeling like my skin needs a little more, I'll use this mask. It's aptly named, because it soothes, hydrates, and my skin is left feeling so soft and supple. Kiehl's is one of my favorite brands. I want to try all of their masks, but until then, I'm enjoying this one.

I Looove all things skincare and this was fun for me to write. What are you loving with your skincare? Please share. I'm always looking for new things to try!

Side note: Sammy's season ends on Sunday! That happened really fast! The playoffs are almost here and I'm jumping for joy. Good day everybody!
